Land of fabulous narratives and millennial traditions,
between sky and sea, Djerba Zarzis region celebrates a hymn to
life sweetness.
Ulysses himself loved this happy garden infatuated with palms,
located at the wide east coast of Tunisia. Djerba sweetheart...Eternal
Odyssey call, this island-oasis unique in its kind within the
Mediterranean seduces each traveller in search of beauty.
Getting out of the International Airport of Djerba-Zarzis the
first emotion: Djerba island is a genuine floating garden covered
by hundreds of thousands palms.
Strolling among these olive trees, you appear to walk within
Eden orchard where fig, pomegranate, carob, apple and apricot
trees are growing up...Without forgetting that you can also stroll
upon this magnificent coastal navy which spreads as far as Zarzis.
There, sandy beaches are so fine, so white and the crystal-clear
sea is so hot that you will enjoy it.
Fish and Shellfish abound in these seas and the houses around,
typically Djerbian, are themselves only a new show for you. |
Numerous vestiges of the past
surely will marvel you. Atypical mosques, age-old synagogue (The
Ghriba) are living evidence of its rich and varied history. Desired
a lot, this land was yet never captured by conquerors, clashing
to traditional heroism of its dwellers, yesteryear Berbers.
Its charm resides also within this perfect alloy of both present
and past. However varied your requirements are, here everything
is available. |

Within its seaside framework
of Cape Tourgueness or of Zarzis oriental coast, Hotels and Palaces
worthy of thousand and one night, offer to whom desires endless
varieties of leisure and a comfort which can do nothing but make
you feel delight.
The island's population , enjoying a good reputation from its
welcome so warm and its culinary delights, will be a caress to
your palaces.
Houmet Souk: being the
main place in the island, this smart small town is known to keep
for itself a particular life rhythm. |
A district of souks crossed
by numerous alleys where diverse craftsmen corporations are gathered.
There, cafés and restaurants are settled and there we
see at the end of the day the comings and goings of holiday makers
mixed with Djerbians in their coloured djellaba. If its souks'
noise attract you, don't miss certainly those of Mondays and
Thursdays
